Stephen Fry
'British comedian, actor, novelist, commentator, and filmmaker. Stephen John Fry has been called 'nothing if not one of the more versatile and outspoken talents to come along in the latter half of the 20th century'. His first success was at the age of 22 when his first play, Latin! (or Tobacco and Boys), won the Fringe First at the Edinburgh Festival. From the mid s Fry became a become a fixture on British television programs and series such as A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Jeeves and Wooster, and Blackadder. He gained financial success and a nomination for a Tony Award for his re-write of Noel Gay's musical Me and My Girl. Beginning in the early s, his first of four novels appeared, as well as his first of four Fry & Laurie television scripts. Fry was also gaining recognition for his columns for The Daily Telegraph and establishing himself as a respected commentator on British society and politics.'
