WWII Ace fighter pilot with the Eighth Air Force's th Fighter Group. Conger went to England with th Fighter Group in December and flew with the st Squadron under the command of the legendary Francis Gabreski. By war�s end the th Fighter Group had shot down more enemy aircraft than any other in the Eighth Air Force, and Conger had logged a total of 0 combat hours consisting of 8 missions from England to the Continent. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross with 4 Clusters, Air Medal with Clusters, Purple Heart and Unit Citation with 1 Cluster.
