American author of comic books, film and TV scripts, novels and dinosaurs books. As a teenager, Donald F. Glut made amateur horror and fantasy films. Although never commercially released, they became underground and cult hits, and some were eventually shown in theatres and on TV. He began his professional writing career in , writing articles for and finally editing the magazine Modern Monsters. After graduating from the University of Southern California in with a BA degree in Cinema, he worked as a musician, singer and songwriter in The Penny Arkade rock band. As a professional freelance writer, he has authored numerous motion picture, television and comic-book scripts, more than novels and nonfiction books, and numerous short stories. Glut's The Dinosaur Dictionary and Dinosaurs: The Encyclopedia, two of his many non-fiction books about dinosaurs, were both listed by the American Library Association among the best reference books of their years of publication. Glut has also lectured on dinosaurs at museums, universities and other institutions in the USA and Europe. His novelization of the George Lucas film The Empire Strikes Back became a bestseller and is still in print. In , he created the characters and back story for Mattel�s Masters of the Universe toy line. Glut also produced, written and directed various videos and films.
