OUR CATALOGS

You can locate specific items in our inventory using the search box, or you can browse through our listngs by topic. Use the Browse Categories link on the menu bar to see the catalogs representing our inventory. Click on a category and a list of subcategories on that subject will appear. Click on any of these subcategories and our listings will show up. You may have to scan down the page to see some of the subcategory lists. This is an excellent way to locate only those items that are of particular interest to you.

We are always interested in working with collectors, archives, museums, libraries, and other collections to enhance their holdings. On request, we will quote items that may be of interest prior to listing them. This usually represents a savings to our customers, since we do not have to invest time and money in on-line listing.

Our holdings are far more extensive than is represented on-line. We are particularly keen on ephemera of cultural history interest, including maps, photographs, significant post cards, advertising, brochures, pamphlets, magazines, etc. Please contact us if you have general or specific needs.

ABOUT US
The Prints & The Paper is a modest, mostly home-based business. It is run, in fact, by ye cataloger, Lee (spousal unit Gary maintains he is the 'fetcher and toter' of the team). My catalog entries often include some wry commentary and humble personal opinions, which some folks find amusing and no doubt others think annoying. Take a look at some of them and judge for yourself!

We're a bit quirky, but never stuffy or elitist. Your questions, queries, and orders will be answered in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner. E-mail inquiries are easiest for us to deal with, but hey -- do what works for you. We are adamant in preserving the ethics and standards of the traditional bookselling trade. Our packing is superior and our shipping is prompt. Our greatest asset is our customers and we try to provide the very best in personal and professional customer service.

PRIVACY POLICY: Information about our customers will not be given by us to anyone for any reason.

Sears, Roebuck Company, Illustrated by: Color and B&W Illustrations   Sears, Roebuck and Co. Midsummer SALE Catalog, 1928  Publisher: Sears, Roebuck and Co. Philadelphia 1928. Pale green paper wraps with bright colorful sale items pictured, including an "Autogas" gasoline range on the back cover (inside back cover advertises a lethal-looking coal oil stove at 35 dollars). This is NOT a reproduction - the original vintage catalog is in very good condition! How about those long bathing suits for women ..real silk stockings ..clothing for men, children, and infants. Lots of fabrics, housewares, appliances, underwear, shoes (a couple of styles I wish they'd bring back!), electric fans (watch your fingers!), camping stuff, typefwriter, clocks, horse saddle and harness sets, horse-drawn farming equipment, furniture, AND the kitchen sink (well, self-contained cabinets and ice boxes). Prices are, of course, pretty unbelievable. This catalog in 9-1/4 by 7 inches, 124 pages plus covers. Covers have color illustrations both sides, and there are several color pages sprinkled throughout. A few small age spots and some mild edgewear to the cover, otherwise a very nice, clean, tight catalog without marks or damage. Hill, Hubbell and Co., Illustrated by: Photogravure Illustrations   Bitulumin: a Permanent Aluminum Finish  Publisher: Hill, Hubbell and Co. San Francisco 1926. Gray and metallic aluminum card cover with red, black and white pastedown illustration of 1920s flivver in front of industrital tanks in landscape. (Presumably these tanks are painted with the product.) 30 pages with fine gravure photos illustrating applications. A swatch with sample primer and paint applied to inside rear cover. Just a delightful little art deco-style promotional booklet for a product that was unusual at the time. In crsip, clean (and gleaming) condition, with a rectangular smut on the back cover (where some idiot applied a label) and a discrete stamped number on front free endpaper, which appears to be part of the original issue. The front free endpaper has some light spotting, apparently from the metallic content of the cover ink, which has come through the paper in small spots. Galtes and Company (printer) Portland Oregon 1904. White paper wraps illustrated with iconic human figures walking toward the sun, in an Art Nouveau style frame, title 'Oregon' in red. Rear cover illustrated with B&W photo of Portland Harbor in Wheat Shipping Season (sailing ships, stern wheel tug, etc.) 96 pages with many full-page B&W photos and other illustrations. It describes the major industrial, business, and agricultural pursuits and opportunities, shipping and transportation facilities, education, etc. Oregon was admitted to the Union in 1859 and although still a struggling frontier state, this Expo and this booklet were destined to bring Portland into the status of a metropolis and hub of international trade.
