April 24th, 2009 - I've launched a new Twitter account to offer inexpensive copies of great reads: @cheepreads. A bit more about the experiment on the blog. Hope you'll follow along.

Feb. 9th, 2009 - My third catalog, LIVRE BRUT: 20 Vernacular, Folk and Outsider Books, is completed and available for download (PDF) or by request. Highlights include a photo album of the 1904 Sierra Club High Trip to Yosemite, one of the earliest Navy "cruise books," a stunning handmade book by a Korean War POW, and many more.

Feb. 1st, 2009 - I will be exhibiting at the upcoming 42nd Annual California International Antiquarian Book Fair -- Booth 102 (with Lux Mentis) -- Feb. 13th, 14th, and 15th. A list of highlights I'll be bringing to the fair may be downloaded here (PDF). Hope to see you there!

August 12th, 2008 - I am very happy to announce that I have been accepted as a member to the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America (and by extension The International League of Antiquarian Booksellers).

May 7th, 2008 - I was interviewed about a rare archive of William S. Burroughs material I and colleague Ken Lopez sold. More details on the blog.

Feb. 15th, 2008 - Catalog #2 is (finally) complete. It includes rare and important items from Emily Dickinson, Jack Kerouac, Jo Mora, John Steinbeck as well as several nice early American imprints, scarce art and architecture titles, Americana, Californiana and more. I run a small used, rare, and antiquarian bookshop (formerly the Cannery Row Old Book Co.) located at 471 Wave St. within the Cannery Row Antique Mall, just one block off the Monterey street made famous by John Steinbeck. The shop is open Mon.-Sat. 10am-6pm, and Sun. 10am-5:30pm. Search and want services are available, as are appraisals and collection development. Please inquire. New customers are asked to prepay. Libraries, institutions, and established customers and dealers may be invoiced. Reciprocal trade courtesies extended. Books may be returned for any reason within thirty days of receipt, through prior arrangement, and in original condition. Unless books are not as described, however, postage to be paid by buyer.

I focus on books with a scholarly or literary bent, both used and collectible: poetry, fiction, criticism, history, religion, and books about writing and language. I also specialize in signed and advance editions (ARCs, proofs, etc.). I am always looking to purchase books within my areas of interest, from single titles to collections. Please inquire.
