ANTIQUE WOODEN SLEIGH CANDY CONTAINER WITH PAPIER-MACHE SANTA & 2 REINDEER.

This Christmas display features reindeer pulling Santa in his sleigh on a 19 1/2"x 3 7/8" snow-covered wooden platform. The wooden sleigh (8 3/4 l.) has scattered snow on the the side railings & a cotton batting blanket. Santa has a painted papier-mache face (with a rabbit fur beard), hands, & boots, all of which are held together by wire under his suit. He is dressed in a red felt coat trimmed in white, a red felt hood, & blue felt pants & black boots. Sitting in a fixed position in his sleigh, he is about 4" h. & is holding a feather tree sprig. The 2 papier-mache reindeer (3 1/2" h.)pulling the sleigh have been molded in magnificent detail & realistically painted. They both have wooden legs & lead or lead-alloy antlers. Reins (felt-backed & heavily crazed) attach attach the reindeer to the sleigh. The only marking is "Germany" printed on a sticker on Santa's foot. C. 1920. There is snow missing from the frontcorner & some missing at the area in back of the sleigh, minor damage to the heads of the reindeer o/w the display is complete, entirely original, and in Very Good (i.e. signs of careful use with no significant defects) condition.

EARLY CHRISTMAS PAPIER-MACHE BELSNICKLE.
Manufacturer: Unknown. Germany. C. 1900.
Molded papier-mache. Yellow painted coat & hood with scattered mica flakes. Red chenille trim around bottom & front of coat. Unusually detailed facial molding. Eye details painted with dot pupils & black lid liners. Long, full white beard with detailed molding. Original goose feather tree with a red berry protrudes from a hole in the crook of his arm. Painted black boots standing on a mottled black base. 8 3/4" h. Unmarked, but typical of the classic figures made in Germany c. 1900. Some loss of mica, some minor surface cracks & minor paint scuffs, and paper covering bottom of the base partially detached with a piece missing. No retouching.

Handpainted in red, green, white, black & pink. Crystal glass (Pre-1930). 2 3/4" h. Very worn pink face, white beard, green sack, black boots & red suit. Screw base (top) marked "14V Japan". C-6. Carbon filament. Japan continued to utilize carbon filaments until 1927, particularly in their clear glassfigural lamps. WORKING. About 50% of the paint missing. MAZDA MODEL TRAIN STATION BELL-SHAPED LIGHT BULB.

C-6. Dark blue painted crystal glass. 1 3/4" h. GE-Mazda 1932 - 1940 Tungsten filaments.Working with some paint missing. These bulbs were first made by General Electric in 1932 as streetlights for a model train station manufactured by the Lionel Company. GE offered them in various colors when it was found they could be used as Christmas lights when hung upside down. They were produceduntil the beginning of World War II. Older plastic Stanta in original box that was shipped from Speigel via UPS before the advent of zip codes. He still works. On/off swwitch on cord. He has a few scuffs on his bright red coat, not many. Acout 16" tall.
