Dithridge & Co., Jeannette, PA. 1900 - 1901. "Versailles" is as yet unreported in any colors other than opaque white, blue& green; and I have found no other examples of Dithridge use of satinized crystal. found no other examples of Dithridge use of satinized crystal. Edward D. Dithridge, however, was granted a patent for "Apparatus for Frosting Glass-Ware" on July 30, 1878 (No. 206,392). There are scattered remnants of a silvery paint that suggests the nappy was decorated in some fashion, which is consistent with Dithridge's treatment of opaque Versailles. Other than the remnants, Fine (No defects).

EAPG PATTERN GLASS: Scarce Fern Garland Syrup.
Manufacturer: McKee Glass C.1900. Crystal. Non-flint. Domed, nickelplated steel lid with tab thumb handle and darkened plaster under the inner rim. Mold blown with cut-and-shut pontil. McKee Glass Co. This pattern is actually McKee's "Colonial No. 20" (a pattern in the Prescut line introduced in 1905) with the decorative addition of a flower impressedbetween fern leaves in each panel. Stout (The Complete Book of McKee Glass, p. 247) shows this syrup in the unadorned No.20 pattern in her section on Prescut, but with a different style top. McKee, as did other manufacturers C. 1900, used the same top as the one offered here on many of its syrups & molasses cans. Since this syrup is not marked Prescut (as all pieces in the line supposedly were) and there is no actual documentation of when "Fern Garland" was produced, dating this syrup presents a problem. Roughness at the bottom of 3 of the edges dividing the panels, grizzling around the throat in-the-making, corrosion spots on & in the metal top & wear on its tab handle o/w Fine (No defects). Scarce. $

ORIGINAL THREE FACE PATTERN GLASS SALT SHAKER.
Manufacturer: George Duncan & Sons, Pittsburgh, PA. C. 1878 - 1886.. Frosted crystal with clear foot. 2 5/8" h. George Duncan & Sons. C. 1878 - 1886. Per Lechner (Bk. 2, p. 72, left) including lid. This lid is stamped "C&W" in the center of the bottom, the mark of Collins & Wright of Pittsburgh, who manufactured britannia ware, pewter buttons, and metal trimming used in the production of glass tableware such as salt and pepper shakers beginning in the late 1860s. The many reproduction of this shaker lack the qualities found in this shaker: the non-frosted portions of the glass are brilliant & crystal clear; the frosting has a fine, smooth texture, which is bright rather than dull & a grayish rather than chalky appearance; the faces are detailed with sharpfeatures and the correct nose & eyes. Guaranteed an original. An in-the-making shear line (another good sign of an original) running across an eye & thru opposite forehead on one of the faces o/w Fine (No defects). The lid has some corrosion damage.

PATTERN GLASS: CLEAR STOCK (Kamm, Miller)/ FROSTED STORK (Lee) SUGAR BOWL.
Manufacturer: Unknown. 1890s.. Bowl 4 1/4" h. x 3 7/8" d. 6 3/4" h. overall. Non-flint crystal. 3 different stork scenes on the bowl & lid. Geometric finial. The pattern shown here is called "Clear Stork" by Kamm (Bk. 3,p. 64) and also pictured in Lee's "Early American Pattern Glass" (Plate 100, Row 3, #3 only) where she includes it under the "Frosted Stork" classification. There are atleast 5 patterns similar to this one that have been given a plethora of names by different glass authors. These names are generally not applied with any consistency, and often the same name is applied to two or more patternswhich can be or could be differentiated. Matters are further complicated by the lack of catalog or other illustrations showing which pieces belong to the same table set. See Welker, "Pressed Glass in America," p.447 fordetails, and where she places this sugar's pattern in Group #5. A few included bubbles, shear lines, & some light mold roughness inside the lid's inner rim & the bowl's rim. 2 small chips on the inside of lid's inner rimo/w Fine. Scarce.

PATTERN GLASS: KOKOMO/ JENKINS STARS & STRIPES CORDIALS/ WINES (2).
Manufacturer: Kokomo Glass Mfg. Co., Kokomo & Arcadia, IN. C. 1901 - 1931.. Crystal. Non-flint. 2 oz. 4" h. Although the pattern was illustrated in the Montgomery Ward catalog for 1899, it is known to have been produced as Pattern No 209 by the Kokomo Glass Mfg. Co. Kokomo, IN. from its founding in 1901 until it was destroyed by fire in 1905. The pattern was continued inproduction by Kokomo's successor, the D. C. Jenkins Glass Co., Kokomo & Arcadia, IN until it closed in 1932. The cordial/wine is shown in a Jenkins catalog in Hicks' "Just Jenkins" (p. 80 & 82). Mysteriously, a water set (but not the cordial/wine) appears in a 1914 Federal Glass catalog catalog No. 209. See Issue 4, p. 17 of Heacock's "The Glass Collector" for an extensive discussion. Fine (No defects).
