PRE-1913 SUNDAY SCHOOL CROSS & CROWN AWARD PINBACK.
Manufacturer: Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, NJ. 1895 - 1914.
Dark blue celluoid with "L & R" in a white ribbon with a cross & crown symbol in whitebelow. "S" in white on both sides of the cross. An ornate, scroll design encircles the edge. 3/4" d. The back paper has the crown & cross symbol over which is printed "Little's Cross and Crown System/ Christian Finance Ass'n N.Y./ W & H Co., Pat. July 17, 1894, April 14, 1896, July 21, 1896". Themanufacture was the Whitehead & Hoag Co. of Newark, NJ. which included these patent dates on its back papers until 1913. "L & R" is the abbreviation for the Lutheran and Reformed church. Some light stained areas on the face, a heavier stained area on the back paper. NOTE: Shipping for this item via 1st Class Mail is $2.00. VINTAGE SUNDAY SCHOOL CROSS & CROWN AWARD PIN.
Manufacturer: The Robbins Co., Atterboro, MA. Unknown..
Enamel & gold. "Lutheran" in gold printed on a blue ribbon edged in gold. Below is a Cross,which is red & edged in gold, with a gold Crown across its lower half and an "S" in gold on both sides. The background is white enamel. 5/8" w. x 3/4"h. The back has a bar mount safety clasp, a small ring for hanging additional awards, and is embossed "Robbins Co./ Attleboro 1/20 10K GF". The Robbins Co.of Atterboro, MA was founded 1892 and is still in business. Their newer pins in this design & these colors are gold plated and have a gold wreath surrounding the edge of the pin.
