Pair of Chinese Export Porcelain Parrots.
Manufacturer: Unknown. Late 19th or early 20th century. 6" h. 3 1/8" x 1 7/8" base. Green bodies with unglazed beaks & feet. Brown rockwork. Black eyeballs. Parrots are perched astride a pierced rockwork base in the traditional Chinese style. Scattered tiny rust spots & glaze contractions, but no crazing. The unglazed beaks & feet do not show any signs of once having been glazed as these are sometimes found to be. There are remnants of red markings on the bases, but neither is legible. Late 19th or early 20th century. The base of one parrot has a 1/2" l. crack in-the-making extendingout from the pour hole. The other has a hairline on back extending from the middle of the neck down one side ending on the tail feather about 1/2" from the base. About midway down the crack there is 1/16" hole, which does not appear to be in-the-making (see photo).
