14th Edition. 80pp. 8vo. 5 1/4' x 8 1/2'. Orange wraps with full-color illustrations on both covers. The upper right front cover shows a little boy (a Kewpie look-alike) carrying a basket with Calmut can against a black background sprinkled with flowers & bees; the lower right illustrates a dog chasing a butterfly. The back cover pictures the same boy in the upper left leaping over a Calmut can against a black background sprinkled with flowers & bees while the dogs watches from the lower right. Both covers have all text lettered in black. 16 full-color plates (including 2 double-page illustrations of the Calumet factory) & 6 plates in b/w & orange. All text pages are headed by an illustration of either the Indian head flanked by medals which appeared on Calumet tins, or the little boy engaged in some activity related to the text. Both heads are flanked by device using scrolls & bellflowers. This edition was published within several years after 1922 since it includes a 1922 letter regarding a Certificate of Approval from Modern Priscilla Magazine; and Marion Jane Parker's 'The Children's Party Book' (published in 1923) is offered as a premium on the inside of the back cover. cover. The covers have a little edge wear; the right edge of the front cover has a little spot of slight discoloration; 3 pages are heavily spotted with baking stains (see picture); & about 5 have a few scattered, insignificant light stains o/w Very Good, i.e signs of careful use with no significant defects. Each page is headed by an Art Deco style line drawing in black, white & yellow. Title in tan the upper half, publishers name in brown in the lower in half with 'Circulated by the Harrisburg Patriot' printed below, & an illustration in brown & tan between the halves of a tray & compote of appetizers. 300 recipes, Table of Contents & Index. Haskin operated the Haskin Information Bureau in Washington, DC which later was known as 'The Agency Of The People'. The operation was financed by newspapers which distributed his various publications such as this one. In turn, the public was invited to submit questions to his large staff of experts who provided answers without charge. Haskins himself was the author of several books including one on the Panama Canal & another on American Government. Additional recipes written in pencil on inside of the back cover, both covers have light stains & soiling, lower right corner bumped o/w Very Good, i.e signs of careful use with no significant defects.
