In addition to an index, reference materials include a checklist of the 66 portraits identifying the subject, tribe, date, medium, size and location; a catalog of the Ward Department Indian Gallery; and an extensive Bibliography listing records in the National Archives, manuscripts, government publications, published contemporary works, newspapers and books and articles.
