Patriotic stories based on De Amicis' frontline experiences in the Third Italian War of Independence. Nicely illustrated. Bound in dark blue cloth over boards with spine and upper board stamped in gilt and black, decorative endpapers, tissue-guarded frontispiece. There are shallow wrinkles to cloth edges at spine ends, some minor rubs to binding. This copy comes from a private institutional library, with their stamp on recto of frontispiece and on title page, and catalogue numbers at heel of spine.
