Literary contributors include James Russell Lowell, Robert Burns, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Increase Mather, Shakespeare, William Cullen Bryant, Milton, Tennyson, Gail Hamilton, and many others. Bound in leather over boards with all edges gilt, marbled endpapers, spine and both boards stamped in gilt and blind, raised bands on spine, and inside dentelles in gilt.
