THE BERKELEY POETRY CONFERENCE, JULY 12-24, 1965.
Author: [Berkeley Poetry Conference] (Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Robert Creeley, Ed Dorn, Charles Olson, etc.).
Publisher: [Berkeley]: [The University of California], 1965.

First edition. 2pp. on one beige 4to. sheet. Fine. Promotional flier detailing reading and seminar schedules, costs, and participants (with biographies). Binding: Pamphlet. Condition: Fine. Organized in part by Robert Duncan, the Berkeley Poetry Conference was inspired by a similar event in Vancouver two years earlier and helped further establish the influence of the poets and schools represented in Donald Allen's New American Poetry. The event marked Jack Spicer's final public appearance before his death a month later (the program notes his lecture on the afternoon of the 14th and his reading the following evening), In addition, Berrigan performed one of his earliest public readings of his Sonnets. As Steven Clay and Rodney Philips have written: "[T]he Berkeley Conference was the flash point of the mimeo revolution, the place from which much of the writing and publishing just ahead was to locate its identity and it momentum" (A Secret Location on the Lower East Side 27). A scarce artifact from a landmark event. Quantity available: 1.
