Revised Edition, with Supplement. Illustrated by several hundred figures, many of them hand colored. 3/4 black leather over pebbled dark brown cloth, five raised bands with gilt ornamentation and gilt titles, all edges marbled. Upper leather corner with old (professional) repair, spine appears to have been repaired at some point, some small scuffs to leather and some moderate edgewear, front hinge has crack that appears to have been repaired. Currently tight and sound in the binding and repairs are somewhat subtle. Internally very clean save for some foxing to endpapers. Text and plates very clean and the painting is exceptionally well done with excellent shading and without the garishness often seen in such endeavors. Lacking plates 5 and 36, 43 hand-colored plates remain. This is about TWICE THE NUMBER OF HAND-COLORED PLATES usually found in this title. COLLECTIBLE 4542.
