Tilke, Max, Illustrated by: Color Plates
National Costume From East Europe, Africa and Asia
Publisher: Hastings House New York: (Printed in Germany) 1978. Red silky cloth hardcover with black stamped titles, gray endpapers, in color-illustrated dust jacket. 38 pages text and 128 gorgeous full-page color plates. This volume combines the two titles that Tilke produced in 1923 and 1925, plus many additional plates not before published, from original watercolors by Tilke. The text addresses the fit and assembly of the costumes, which are portrayed in the plates in vivid detail. The book is useful in tracing the development of basic costume structures from early times onward, and well as for showing the details of national costumes of individual nations. Covers much of Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean countries, etc. The book is about fine condition with a few tiny specks on top edge. The jacket has been protected in Mylar and shows no appreciable signs of wear. No slipcase.
