Publisher: Spiritualist Press, 1971 London. Book. Book condition: Good. Good. Hardcover 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall "Here is the book for which thousands have been waiting--another anthology from some of the finest and most inspired utterances of that supremely eloquent being, Silver Birch, world-famous spirit guide of Hannen Swaffer's home circle. All over the world people have paid tribute to this guide for the comfort, help and guidance he has provided to them. He is a thinker, always a major key, and with immeasurable depth. His utterances on truth, wisdom, spirit, life, love, death and the purpose of being are without parallel in modern philosophy. Always he insists on the unerring constancy of the Law--the natural ordinances which control every facet of universal activity. The significant fact is the utter simplicity of his language. He expresses great an noble truths in phrases a child can understand. Lucid, effortless, lit with spiritual conviction, his prose glitters with perfection. Tributes have been paid to the mastery of his utterances, comparing them with the oratory of Churchill. Here, selected from his incomparable treasury, are its finest gems." 120 pages. Hunting in Northumbria
Publisher: H. F. & G. Witherby, 1927 London. Book. Book condition: Good. No Jacket. Hardcover 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall Subtitle: Being the History of the Haydon Hunt and Many Other Packs, Together with Songs, Stories and Legends of Sport in the Border County. Introduction by J. Fairfax-Blakeborough, M.C. The Haydon Hunt is one of the traditional fox hunts of England, having celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2009. "..The author of this book has done good service by collecting from inevitable loss, the story of this far Northumbrian Haydon Hunt. Very painstakingly he has chronicled the evolution of the pack and much of interest by the way. Though in the main local, the history as a whole is pretty much that of many other packs, and similarly the tradition is also the same, as is the local patriotism. Now in sport-and particularly fox-hunting-tradition and local patriotism (for there is a distinct local as well as national patriotism) count for much..This Haydon tradition began in the very early days and was cemented by the frequent dining, and wining, of men who loved the freedom of the open air, the horses, hounds and the congenial company of those whose tastes jumped with their own.." Illustrated with 12 black and white photographic plates. 250 pages with index. Book is in GOOD condition. No dust jacket.
