Very Good with no dust jacket First Edition Hardcover 224 pages; 8vo (8.5") 22 cm; Hardcover, green cloth decorated in gilt, silver and black; pale floral-patterned endpapers, 224 pages, over 120 short short stories and poems for little children, dozens of b/w illustrations in text, 25 lovely full-page three-color illustrations, some featuring African characters. ; Includes several original stories by many authors including John D. Long, Faith Latimer, Rev. Edward A. Rand, Ruth Lamb, A. D. Bailie, Mrs. S. J. Brigham, more. ; This is one of the best condition Children's Annuals we have ever seen. They were not usually made to last and they are normally in shreds. This one does show moderate wear to extremities, but no rips or tears, no creases, no marks or scribbling apart from a name and 'December 25th 1890' lightly penciled on front blank page. Gilt on spine is a bit dull but readable, on front cover is bright and sharp. Binding is tight.

Fair with no dust jacket Hardcover 126 pages; 8vo (9") 23 cm; Hardcover, blue cloth over spine, full-color chromolithograph on front showing Little Robbie and his pet rabbit, 126 pages, 62 full-page monochrome illustrations, nearly 62 original one-page stories and descriptions, plus a few short poems, for young children. ; This is a children's annual, stuffed with various entertaining stories, poems, and short descriptions of amazing animals from faraway lands, all illustrated. No author listed. Many illustrations are by Mary Ellen Edwards and Harrison Weir. ; Quite worn but intact. Edges of boards chipped, corners rounded. Cloth discolored, frayed at both ends, no lettering visible. Front free endpaper missing. Many pages have small spots and smudges, as usual, but everything is readable. Front joint tight, rear hinge has some play, all pages attached. Quite scarce.

4to. 96pp. + 2pp.ads. Pictorial boards. Good only hardcover. Cloth spine torn along edge. Front hinge loose at title page but holding, corners bumped and worn, pictorial cover still bright, though creased. Light foxing on title page. Contents tanned, complete and quite clean. One page (A Picture to Colour) is crayoned in two tones, probably by Mary, whose Aunt Mabel gave her this book on Christmas 1947. Includes stories by Phyllis Pearce, Joyce Ewing, Joan Caldwell, poems by K. Laverty, Ivy O. Eastwick. Bear stories and poems including several of Rupert. Several stereotypical tales and cartoons as illustrated on cover: A Tale of Betty and Golly, Neddy and Nellie Nigger, Teddy and His Wonderful Toys. Not in the best of condition, but still decent and collectible.

Dozens of short stories, and a few poems, for small children, by various authors. ; Front cover states No. 676. Subtitle on front: Stories for Little People. Subtitle on title page: Stories for Young Folks, with Color Plates and Numerous Illustrations in Black and White. ; Moderate wear to edges of boards. Rear board, which is plain green and unlettered, is rubbed. Gift note dated 1927 penned on front endpaper, quite faded. Pages are slightly yellowed from age but not brittle. No visible rips, tears, spots or smudges. Binding tight.

Fair with no dust jacket Hardcover 412 pages; 8vo (9.5") 25 cm; Dark blue cloth decorated in gilt, silver, and black; bevel-edged boards, all edge gilt, color chromolithograph frontispiece; 80 short poems and songs (several with music by William H. Cummings or Amy C. Jackson) ; 200 short stories, anecdotes, trivia, etc, 200 b/w illustrations of various styles. ; This is a Child's Annual from 1881, a collection of various material gathered together by the publisher, some original, some previously published. Many full-page illustrations. (A m a zon bu y e rs please note: Their image does not match out unit. Our unit is blue gilt cloth) ; Quite worn, especially at tips. Cloth chipped on spine, affecting decor but not title. One leaf has a long closed tear neatly repaired with old book-repair tape. A few pencil marks on endpapers, otherwise interior clean. Hinges have some play but binding is essentially intact. Quite scarce in any condition.
