Publisher: Hartford CT: John Babcock, 1802..
First Edition Octavo in original plain light blue wraps. 166 pages. Friendly Thoughts in Verse
 Picture
Publisher: Carl L. Jones, 1945 Salisbury, MD.
Book. Book condition: Good. No Jacket. Hardcover 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall "..Poets are born and not made. The true poet must have deep feelings and strong emotions. The author of this collection is such a man. He is a Mason, and as such he has felt deeply the great principles and truths taught and exemplified by the Fraternity. He has sought to live the way of life set forth in its teachings. As a member of the craft - a master builder - he has drafted the plan of his temple upon the trestle board of ancient workmen who stood for all of the great virtues of mankind. He loves his Lodge and the principles for which it stands. It is his great desire that he may be able to help others to see the Way, the Truth, and the Life; hoping that as they see, so may they build - fashion the temples of their lives according to the designs laid down upon the trestle board of the Supreme Architect of the Universe. It is in this hope that he sends this little book of verse out to his brethren and friends. Whatever may bge its faults, it expresses the outpouring of an honest soul under deep inspiration. He has written as he has felt. His ia member of Wicomico Lodge, No. 91, Ancient free and Accepted Masons, and of Salisbury Lodge of Perfection, Ancient Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. His is a Pastmaster of Wico0mico Lodge and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Masonic Temple in Salisbury. He is himself the kind of person he tells about in one of his poems - 'A Mason and a Man'." 37 pages. Book is in GOOD condition. No dust jacket.

Richardson's Monitor of Free-Masonry
 Picture
Publisher: N. P., 1860 N. P..
Book. Book condition: Fair to Good. No Jacket. Hardcover 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall NO bibliographic information is given. The book was originally published in 1860; this copy appears to date from that period. "..In the following pages I have endeavored to give exact descriptions of the Masonic ceremonies as they are (or should be) performed in the Lodges, Chapters, &c., of each degree. The information is intended, not only for the public at large who have a curiosity to fathom the wonderful secrets of Free Masonry, but for newly formed Masonic Societies, who desire a printed guide to facilitate their work. Comparatively few persons among the multitudes who join the Masonic Lodges extend their knowledge of the Craft beyond the Royal Arch Degree; and to such as have not been advanc3ed, this work will be read with much interest. By the aid of it they may become familiar with the higher degrees of modern Masonry - with the Ineffable Degrees - and with those curious and enthusiastic Historical and Philosophical which are so mixed up with Jewish history and Christian Knight-errantry as to puzzle the mater-of-fact student of the present day. And now a few words with Masonic friends as to my object in retiring from the Society and publishing this book. I am no enemy of Masonry; and I think that if it were possible to keep unworthy men out of our Lodges, it would be an unexceptionable institution. Considering that this has not been, and probably cannot be done, I am content to leave it. And as I have always looked upon our secret ceremonies and oaths as but the relics of a past age, and continued merely to preserve the ostensible antiquity of the institution rather than to bind our consciences, I do not hesitate to make them public.." Illustrated with line drawings. iv + 192 pages. Book is in FAIR to GOOD condition. Discoloration to cover; binding is tight; text pages show aging but are in GOOD, clean and readable condition. No dust jacket.

House Undivided: The Story of Freemasonry and the Civil War
 Picture
Publisher: Macoy Publishing and Masonic Supply Co., 1964 New York.
Book. Book condition: Good. Good. Hardcover 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall "House Undivided is a story about Freemasonry and the Civil War. It depicts the 'human' side of the conflict with its portrayals of brotherly love in action. The quotations in the book tell what the men of 100 years ago actually said - not what someone thinks they might have said. While many battles and incidents of the war are not analyzed, they are accurately depicted. Included in the volume are many eye-witness accounts of battles never before published. The story is written in chronological order sot that the reader may bette3r understand the reasons for the statements ande activities which took place in Masonic circles. An unusual amount of research has gone into this volume. It is a book that should certainly be included in any complete reference library, inasmuch as it touches a previously unexplored facet of Civil War lore which, after 18, 000 titles, is a difficult thing to do." xviii + 356 pages with index. Book is in GOOD or better condition. Dust jacket is in GOOD or better condition; some edgewear.
