Alcott, Richard Herbert, Illustrated by: Cover By Max Efroym
SPIDER BITE

Publisher: Freestone: Albion.
Folded cover wraps with red and black woodblock print. Contains 24 unbound sheets of letterpress printing. According to the colophon: "115 copies of this portfolio embodying all of the poet's fingerprints were written, handset in Garamond, Cloister & others, & printed by hand, handfed in signle page impression on the 1873 Peerless letterpress in Albion by Richard Herbert Alcott for The Freestone Publishing Company, Albion, California 95410." Appears to be some of that self-conscious poetry of the early 1970s. Internally all pages are clean and crisp. The portfolio covers are smudged with surface soil. Oddly, the hand-written title, signature, date, and issue number appear as impressions, as though someone might have erased them (or something has badly faded). This was set 31/115. Barnes, Dick, Illustrated by: Starmer Cover Illustration
Hungry Again the Next Day: a Segue. Plus Handwritten Letter By Dick Barnes

Publisher: Claremont California: 1978.
Handmade book and handwritten letter by Dick Barnes 200 copies printed for Dick Barnes, July 1978., 34 pages stapled with hand-applied title pastedown on cover. Inscribed to Bill Sweet, signed 1978. (Bill (William) Sweet was a noted poet, editor - Northwest Review and others - and Creative Writing teacher at various institutions of higher learning.) The letter dated 16 August, 1978, written to "Dear Bill" describes the hand-making of the book while waiting for "an ordinary publisher to get my message. Half of them don't even claim to have read a MS any more, just keep it a couple of months and then send it back." The letter mentions scheduling some readings and also recalls a previous visit with fine poetic nostalgia. Two pages, hand-written in fountain pen, signed "As ever, Dick Barnes." A couple of lightly faded areas on booklet cover. Letter is folded twice to fit inside book, otherwise crisp and clean on quality bond paper. Barnes, Jim
The American Book of the Dead

Publisher: University of Illinois Press Urbana, Illinois 1982.
Reddish-brown cloth with silver stamped titles, in color printe dust jacket. 107 + 1(index) pages by this established poet of Choctaw descent. WARMLY INSCRIBED to a pair of noted American poets, with ownership signature of one of them on the front paste-down. It is reasonable to consider Barnes to be a future candidate for a Pulitzer. (Collect him now while you can!) The book is near fine (with inscription and ownership signature), hint of rubs at spine ends and corner tips. The jacket is much abused although the front is intact and reasonably presentable. Short closed tears of front edges, rear flap detached but present (reversible repair with archival paper tape keeps it intact), a one-inch-square chunk missing from back panel bottom. a couple of small but meaningful holes in back panel. Held together in a clear protector. POETRY 3342 Inscribed By Author First Edition Fair Condition Dust Jacket Hard Cover Near Fine Condition 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Poetry

Borsodi, Marion S., Illustrated by: Thoms, Josephine
Small Town and Other Verse
 Picture
Publisher: The Annapolis Publishing Company, 1993 Annapolis, MD.
Book. Book condition: Near Fine. Soft cover Signed by Author(s) 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall Forward by Morgan Llywellyn. Llywellyn is a noted author of historical novels and non-fiction. "Small Town and Other Verse is an excursion into a land we all remember, in our hearts if not in actuality. Through her poetry, Marion Borsodi recaptures the particular enchantment evoked by the smell of woodsmoke in autumn, or shafts of slanting sunlight gliding the roofs of Home. Poetry speaks to the emotions, and in these poems Borsodi speaks clearly, in a voice we recognize. Hers is a book to dip into gratefully as you sit before a roaring fire on a winter's day, or curl up on a windowseat, cosseted by cushions, as rain lashes the panes. The book is a small treasure whose more profound thoughts and insights are cloaked in deceptively simple language, sympathetically crafted. Among the poems, the reader will find some which comfort, others which inspire, and yet others which ring with that deepest essence of poetry - truth." Marion Borsodi was a librarian at the US Naval Acdademy until she retired. Line drawings by Josephine Thoms. 43 pages. Book is in NEAR FINE condition. Paper wrappers; stapled binding.`
