Edited by Lloyd Emerson Bailer's son, Harold. Bailer was an upper-middle-class African American (white appearing) whose grandparents had been born into slavery, who became a medical doctor (otolaryngologist) in 1908, served as President of the Kansas City Medical Society, settled in Detroit in 1918, landed a longterm job in the chemical laboratory of Ford Motor Company, raised three sons who all became college graduates, and in later life worked as an optometrist making glasses. ; No marks or signs of wear, but covers are slightly wrinkled. Quite scarce.

Still the jacket is nearly complete with little loss of material. Bennett, a senior editor of Ebony Magazine, wrote in the book about the issues raised in the Civil Rights Movement of the 60's.
