Lethem, Jonathan
Gun, With Occasional Music
Publisher: Harcourt Brace, 1994. First edition hardback, a Fine copy in a Fine dj, in a Mylar dj protector. Inscribed by Lethem: "For Ed/Regards!/Jonathan Lethem/AUSTIN 10/8/96" (though the last number looks like 97, it was almost certainly signed in 1996, when Lethem was guest of Honor at Armadillocon). His first novel, and not particularly easy to find these days (especially after he won the National Book Award).

MacLeod, Ken
The Cassini Division
Publisher: Tor, 1999. First U.S. hardback edition, preceded by the Legend (UK) edition, F/F, a new, unread copy. The third sequentially of MacLeod's future history series, but the first published in the U.S. MacLeod's definitely an author to watch.

MacLeod, Ken
The Stone Canal
Publisher: Legend (UK), 1996. First edition hardback, a Fine copy in a Fine- dj with a trace of wear here and there, otherwise new and unread. His second (and, IMHO, best) novel, and second in the Fall Revolution sequence, an extravagant hard science, postcyberpunk space opera. Signed by MacLeod. Highly recommended.

Martin, George R. R.
Starlady & Fast-Friend
Publisher: Subterranean Press, 2008.. First edition hardback, one of only 200 numbered copies signed by Martin, a Fine copy in a Fine dust jacket, new and unread. Two stories of about 35 pages each, bound back-to-back like the old Ace doubles. This signed edition is already sold out from the publisher, which is what you would expect for someone whose novels debut at number 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. Despite that, I'm still going to list this at $2 off cover price.

McAuley, Paul [J.].
Whole Wide World
Publisher: HarperCollins/Voyager (UK), 2001.. First edition hardback, a Fine copy in a Fine- dj with a tiny bit of crimping at head and the barest trace of edgewear, otherwise new and apparently unread. They evidently took the J. out of his name in hopes of fooling the computers and making this his breakthrough mainstream technothriller. Actually looks like an SF murder mystery. This UK edition precedes the Tor edition by a year.

McCaffrey, Anne
The Lady
Publisher: Ballantine Books, 1987. First edition hardback, a Fine copy in a Fine- dj with just a tiny bit of crinkling at head, otherwise apparently new and unread. Contemporary novel of a horse farm heiress in conflict with her parents. Sadly for me, there seem to be a number of copies available online. Happily for you, my price reflects this fact.

O'Leary, Patrick
Door Number Three
Publisher: Tor, 1995. First Edition, Hardback Fine/Fine (though cover is slightly off-center). An amazing debut novel that went through several printings. A boldly original amalgamation of time travel, aliens, and dream eating monsters still manages to be absolutely original. O'Leary pulls rabbit after rabbit out of his hat until you start to realize it's rabbits all the way down. One of the most important debut novels of the 1990s, right up there with Raphael Carter's The Fortunate Fall, Ken MacLeod's The Star Fraction, and Mary Doria Russell's The Sparrow. Signed by O'Leary. Highly recommended.

Pangborn, Edgar
Davy
Publisher: St. Martin's, 1964. First edition hardback, P/P with the usual darkening and staining to white dj, crease to dj head, cracked inner hinge, spotting to page edges, and two very significant flaws: something (possibly hot ashes) has burned through the dj and into the book itself on the front cover, leaving several crescent-shaped holes (longest 1/4") in the book itself (though they do not go all the way through the board), and slightly larger ones on the dj around the mouth of the horn on the cover, as well as staining on bottom page block. The same phenomena may or may not be responsible for significant mottling/spotting to head and heel of book itself (and back of dj). Save for that, the dj is free of chipping or tears. Because of those flaws I can't rate it better than P/P, but spine out this is an attractive space filler of a difficult (and acclaimed) first, and a perfectly sturdy reading copy. A Hugo and Nebula nominee.

Pohl, Frederik
Gateway
Publisher: St. Martins, 1977.. First edition hardback (no statement of printing on copyright page, as per Currey), an Ex-Library copy with all the usual flaws, otherwise VG- with moderate wear at heel, slight bumping to head and heel, and sticker ghosts on covers, in a NF- dj with slight crinkling at head, library sticker on spine, and three tack-head sized spots of wear that may or may not be on the dj itself rather than the protector, not clipped, with price of $8.95 intact. Signed by Pohl. Hugo and Nebula winner. Perhaps the hardest domestic SF novel of the 1970s to find.

The Unnatural
Publisher: St. Martin's Press, 1995. First edition hardback, Fine-/Fine- with slight shelfwear to bottom boards and slight edgewear to head. Inscribed by Prill: "To my friends/at Fringewear/DP." One of the funniest, weirdest debut novels of the 1990s, set in a USA where competitive embalming is the national pastime. Wonderful straight-faced parody, the This is Spinal Tap of the funeral industry. Looking for a book that's not just like the last one you read? Congratulations! This is it! Slipstream. Recommended.

Old Man's War
Publisher: Tor, 2005.. First edition hardback, a Fine copy in a Fine- dust jacket with a 1/16th inch closed tear at top front, and very slight wrinkling at head and heel, otherwise apparently new and unread. Scalzi's first novel, and first in a very popular series. Very possibly the most collectable SF hardback of the last ten years from a mainstream domestic publisher. I think the last Tor SF novel this hot was Ender's Game, and I personally liked Old Man's War better.
