Davis, Arthur Alfred.
Print: 'GAME TO THE LAST' or 'IN FULL CRY'.
Publisher: Publisher unknown. No date.. Color photolithograph. Framed calendar top. 12' x 10' h. print with 11' x 8' image. Signed 'Arthur A. Davis 1894' with printed title ('Game To The Last') at the bottom center of the image. Arthur Alfred Davis was a British painter active between 1877 & 1905 and known best for his foxhunting scenes. This print was taken from Davis' 24' x 36' oil on canvas 'In Full Cry'. 11 1/2' x 13 1/2' x 1' wide wooden frame with ornate, gilt-painted, molded gesso. The print is protected with an acid-free backing board over which is an old one-piece wood backboard. The Glass is old as evidenced by scattered tiny bubbles. Print is Fine (No defects). The gesso on the edge of upper right corner of the frame is chipped, a 1/4' x 1/8' edge chip in the gesso on the left side of the top of the frame o/w Very Good (minor signs of careful use with no significant defects). The contents of the frame were originally secured with nails holding the wooden backboard, but insertion of the acid-free mat raised the backboard above the back of the frame. This necessitated holding the contents with metal mending plates. Note: Please email regarding shipping costs prior to ordering.
