Kahnweiler, Daniel-Henry
Juan Gris His Life and Work
Publisher: N.Y. Harry Abrams [1969]. 347p. 24 color, 160 b/w illus. 30 x 26 cm. Translated by Douglas Cooper, himself a noted Gris authority. 'Together with Picasso, Braque, and Leger, Gris was one of the great Cubist masters. Of the four he was the 'classicist,' and his art embodied an impeccable color sense of great subtlety, an instinctive mastery of line and compsition, and an unerring technique in the handling of spacial relationships.' Kahnweiler wrote this during his self-imposed exile in Switzerland during WW II and it was first published in 1946. This enlarged edition contains a catalogue raisonne of Gris' graphic work, more illustrations, a larger format. Freitag 3956. Stock# 38,992. Vg/ dj good, some slight tears..

Kozloff, Max.
Cubism/ Futurism.
Publisher: Icon/ Harper & Row [1974]. 254 p., index, illus. "Cubism and Futurism, the flash points that set off modern art in this century, have been discussed summarily in large survey books and studied at great length on their own. In tandem essays here, I juxtapose them because in actual fact they were linked together like uneasy siblings contending for artistic ascendancy." Paper; VG+. Stock# 21728.
