Gorling A., B. Meyer; A. Woltmann.
Art Treasures of Germany. A Collection of the Most Important Pictures of the Galleries of Dresden, Cassel, Brunswick, Berlin, Munich and Vienna. . . .
Publisher: Boston: Samuel Walker & Co... No Edition Indicated Ca 1880, Thick quarto, about 12.5 inches (32 cm) tall, in full red morocco stamped in gilt. The pagination is somewhat unusual. The first part of the book is numbered 1 - 276, plates not part of the pagination, and it contains lengthy excerpts from the novels containing the illustrations. The first plate, the Sistine Madonna, is missing. Then two sections with a total of 120 engravings with titles, some with tissue guards, but not numbered, are divided by 198 pages containing biographies and portraits of the artists. There are ex-library marks and pockets on the front pastedown and first blank. There is occasional foxing, seldom heavy and few spots in the images. The binding is sound. The covers have no library marks but there is light edge and extremity wear. A very impressive and attractive volume. Hardcover Hardcover Very Good
