In 1756 he published Roman Antiquities, four huge volumes containing over 200 folio plates. Hind describes 146 of Piranesi’s works, including all the Views of Rome and the Carceri; gives information on watermarks and states for each etching, as well as dimensions, numbering, and publishers; and provides a complete list of all Piranesi’s known works.
