Holling, Holling Clancy. Holling, Lucille.
The Book of Indians. Illustrated by H. C. & Lucille Holling.

Publisher: NY, Platt & Munk [MCMXXXV / 1935].
'…we have lived with Indians. In the northern forests we paddled their birch-bark canoes, and slept in their wickiups. We rode our horses beside theirs across the Great Plains and camped in their tepees in the mountains. In the desert they made us feel at home in their pueblos. We have fished with them in the surf of the Pacific Ocean. This book is the result of some of that hunting, riding, camping and research. No writer can tell all about the North American Indians in one book, and no artist can draw all the pictures there are to draw. The tribes of Indians are so many… we divide them into different types of Indians living in different kinds of country…' 125 p., glossary, halftone marginal illustrations throughout, color plates, endpaper maps; pale red pictorial covers stamped in maroon; spine faded, a small stain on front cover, pencil owner's name; good+. 100201.
