Cooper, Walter
A Most Desperate Situation Frontier Adventures of a Young Scout 1858-1864
 Picture
Publisher: TwoDot, Falcon Publishing, Inc. Helena 2000.
First Edition Fine in purple paper covered boards with gilt text stamping on the spine and on the front board. In a fine unclipped dust jacket. Edited by Rick Newby and with an introduction and afterword by Larry Len Peterson. Illustrated with eleven "never-before-published" pen and ink drawings by C. M. Russell. 364 pages followed by several pages of ads by the publisher. The author completed his manuscript describing his adventures as a trapper and scout in the early 1900's. In 1913, before attempting to publish his book he corresponded with Charlie Russell for his assistance as an illustrator. Evidently, the costs of publication must have discouraged Cooper for he died in 1924 without seeing his book go into print. With this publication his manuscript has finally found the eye of the public. Our code number = TB20900

Smith, Annick
Homestead

Publisher: Minneapolis: Milkweed Editions, 1995..
2nd ptg. 22 X 14 cm. New/New. Burgundy paper-covered boards, gilt titles on spine and front board, pictorial endpapers, [ix], 211, [3] pp. From the DJ: "In 1964, Annick Smith came to Montana with her husband Dave and their boys. In the fertile valley where meadows tip downward toward the Big Blackfoot River, they found what they had dreamed of: 163 acres of ranch land with a view of creek, hills, and the Rattlesnake Mountains. The Montana of which Annick Smith writes in the spirited and generous book is the not-so-distant West of outlaws and pioneers, Indians and soldiers, range inspectors and cattle thieves."
