Book. Book condition: Fair. No Dust Jacket. Soft cover 8vo - over 7ľ - 9ľ" tall No date. "The semi-automatic rifle RPM 7.62x39 mm. Is a unique adoption of the automatic rifle A KM 7.62x39 mm. Made by Maadi Company for Engineering Industries, in Egypt. The RPM rifle is well made, reliable and has several interesting features such as a hard chrome-lined barrel and a hard chrome plated piston, double-roped springs and complete take down without tools. The RPM fires the M 1943 7.62x39 mm. |Intermediate cartridges. Best firing results are obtained at ranges up to 440 yard. Well trained riflemen can fire aimed semi automatic fire at ranges of up to 650 yard. The bullet retains lethal effect at ranges of up to 1650 year. The RPM is a gas-operated weapon, in which the gas is channeled through a special port in the stationary barrel and reacts on a piston. The bore is sealed by rotation of the bolt and engagement of the bolt locking lugs on the receiver. The rifle is fed from a curved box magazine with a capacity of 5 rounds. The firing mechanism is of the hammer type and is actuated by means of spring." Well illustrated. 36 pages. The book collects three previously published works on, or relevant to, the 1903 Springfield. First, and by far the longest: "United States Rifles and Machine Guns" by Colvin and Viall, first published in 1917; 332 pages illustrated by drawings, schematics. Second, "Instructions to Bidders . United States Rifle, Caliber .30", essentially a request for bids to build the rifle, first published in 1916; 70 pages (copied 2 pages of the original for each page of the reprint). Third, a reprint of two articles from the 1928 issue of "Army Ordnance", one on heat treatment and finish of the rifle; and the second on overhauling the rifle, totaling 13 pages.
