P.T. Barnum, Illustrated by: Engraving of P.T. Barnum
Ad for P.T. Barnum's Great Roman Hippodrome(Salem Gazette, May 21, 1875)
Publisher: Salem Gazette Salem Massachucettes 1875.
Original newspaper ad from the Salem Gazette (Mass.), May 21, 1875 for P.T. Barnum's Great Roman Hippodrome. This event was advertised for Lynn, on Fairchild Field on May 29, with apologies that a suitable field on which to "erect the great ampitheater for his colossal Hippodrome" was unavailable in Salem. The ad notes that excursion trains would run at convenient times to carry circus-goers to the event from Salem. The ad includes a performance schedule, and the note that free admission was available to anyone who purchased The Life of P.T. Barnum. Talk about self-promotion! There are also dates for Boston, Lawrence, and Lowell. The ad is in very good condition, and measures 10 x 2.5 inches. EPHEMERA 5214 Very Good Condition Ephemera
