Second edition 47 pages Paper booklet in new condition Contains a series of seven articles attributed to W.J. Brown, M.P., Independent Member of Parliament for Rugby and secretary of the Civil Service Clerical Union. He was a student of P.D. Ouspensky. The articles appeared in the journal Time and Tide between 1955 and 1960 in a sort of book review format coupled with the writer's conversational essays. These articles cover the subjects of The Fourth Way, fasting, Maurice Nicoll's writings, life on earth as a school, judging, man's true self, and puppets asleep. In reviewing the book, The Fourth Way, by P.D. Ouspesnky, the writer calls it 'enthralling' and says the basis is that "knowledge is a function of Being." He notes that the system begins with assertions which "are calculated to destroy all pride and vanity." Urging the reader to spend the then price of two pounds on the book, he warns, "it will start you on a 'high, austere and lonely way--which is precisely what you need, whether you know it or not." An enjoyable piece of writing from the past.

In the late 1930's she and her husband, George, became acquainted with the Gurdjieff work through P.D. Ouspensky. In 1948 they became direct students of Gurdjieff and met Thomas de Hartmann. In 1964 they emigrated to Sydney, where they formed and led the Sydney Gurdjieff group. The group's work was supported by the pianistic skills of Mrs. Adie who continued to play well into her 80's.
