An appendix contains both the Japanese and Chinese orders of battle. Review copy with slip and press release laid in. A first rate military history of an important part of the war in Asia that largely unknown in the west. Beautifully written by a knowledgeable military observer. Dorn was an aide to Stilwell after the period covered by this book. This book is considered "Among the most prominent first-person accounts of interest to scholars of the 1937-1941 period" Phillips, The Sino-Japanese War, p. 9.
