First Edition ISBN: 0025322001 First printing stated. Octavo, about 8.5 inches (21.5 cm) tall, in red cloth. 477 pages illustrated by photographs, maps. An appendix contains both the Japanese and Chinese orders of battle. Review copy with slip and press release laid in. A first rate military history of an important part of the war in Asia that largely unknown in the west. Beautifully written by a knowledgeable military observer. Dorn was an aide to Stilwell after the period covered by this book. This book is considered "Among the most prominent first-person accounts of interest to scholars of the 1937-1941 period" Phillips, The Sino-Japanese War, p. 9. First Edition Octavo, about 9.5 inches tall, in black cloth with gilt cover title. 106 pages with many photographic illustrations not in the pagination; two maps, one of which is a large foldout mounted at the back of the book. While the publisher and author are religiously oriented, the book is not. It presents an interesting look at the place and the people. There are a couple of missing tissue guards and the foldout map has a moderate tear horizontally from the bottom of the mounted edge. Two previous owner names on the front pastedown. The spine is sunned and there is a minor discoloration of unknown origin at the bottom front cover Hardcover Hardcover Very Good
