First Edition Second state frontis picturing shack. Rocq, 5206. Recased: original dark brown pebbled cover laid on with later spine and corners in a lighter shade of pebbled leather. Title in gilt on cover and spine, and in blind on rear cover. New endpapers. Previous owner names on first blank ("George H. Doran", a cursive signature not identified). Surface chipping to covers at the point where they meet the corners at the foredge. All edges gilt. Binding strong and sound, text clean but a little toned. No foxing. 496 pages.
