He was an American at Eton, member of an extravagant social set in the 1920s, anti-Nazi and literary critic in the 1930s, aircraftman during WWII, and in the end, a quarrelsome drunk. The books consists of Howard's own writings and reminisences and writings by his friends, a who's who of British literary life in the first half of the twentieth century. Index.
