First Edition Oversize staple bound softcover, about 10 inches tall, in red paper decorated in gilt. 33 pages illustrated by photographs. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR, the inscription being personalized "To my good friend, . .". A catalog of Bowie knives with a history of the weapons produced by George Wostenholm & Son, Ltd. of Sheffield. A fairly degraded copy with moderate staining to the covers, an ink notation to the cover partially washed away, a bit of red staining to the first and last leaves. Close examination seems to show a repeat in the grain pattern. Quarto, about 11.25 inches (28.5 cm) tall, in brown faux leather decorated in gilt. 335 pages illustrated by photographs. Perhaps not everything you want to know, but it covers the weapons, the type of shooting, hunting big game, advantages of different types and makers, cartridge reloading. First Edition Hardback folio, about 12.5 inches tall, in half black cloth on brown cloth covered boards. 201 pages illustrated by photographs, ad copy, photographic endpapers. A history of Western Cutlery of Boulder (later Longmont) Colorado, and the businesses in New York and Pennsylvania from which it grew. The author is the great grandson of H.N. Platts who moved west to establish the company. An excellent company history with indispensible information for collectors of the company's knives. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE HALF TITLE. Barely a hint of edgewear to the clean, soundly bound book. The jacket is complete and untorn except for a tiny edge tear or two, and with minor edge wear.
