SIGNED BY THE EDITOR ON THE TITLE PAGE. The book is denominated a "Revised Edition Excerpted from The Bulletins . .". suggesting that there may have been abridgments. The preface notes the actual revisions which were apparently fairly minimal. A clean, bright, unworn copy but for some rubbing at the upper spine strip causing some very slight loss of surface color. Publisher: Roanoke VA: Roanoke Historical Society, 1962. First Edition Octavo, about 9.25 inches (23.5 cm) tall, in green cloth. 575 pages illustrated by maps, three of them fold-outs. There is also a facsimile of the Armorial Bearings of Lord Boutetourt, the Governor of colonial Virginia 1768-1770. This history is of the county in Virginia named after him. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR WITH AN IMPERSONAL SALUTATION. There are several notations by previous owners on the front endpapers, all in a very neat hand. There are a moderate number of marks in the text in very light red pencil that can be erased. Also a very few light marks and underlining in ballpoint. Otherwise soundly bound but light wear to the extremities. The jacket is modestly edgeworn and rubbed with a tiny chip at the foot of the spine and very short tears at the folds.
