Budgell, Eustace
A Short History of Prime Ministers in Great Britain
Publisher: H. Haines at Mr. Francklin's London, UK 1733 Good 1st ed. Disbound, no wraps. Some staining and soiling of front and rear pages of pamphlet. Small chip missing at bottom right corner of title page. Small curls at same corner of next two pages. Small tear at edge of page 15. Text intact, complete and quite legible. Published anomously, but written by Eustace Budgell as a covert attack on the current Prime Minister, Robert Walpole, by presenting a historical but rather scandalous portrait of the former occupants of his office. He apparantly believed Walpole was conspiring against him. He was a prominent political and literary figure in his day. A cousin of James Addison, he contributed substantially to both the Tattler and the Spectator. 31 pp. First Edition. Dust Jacket: No Jacket Disbound Good 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
