Charming old novel of newlyweds adapting to married life. Haven was a prolific writer, and edited the Philadelphia Saturday Gazette from 1847-1853. Bound in original brown cloth over boards with blind-stamped pattern on boards, spine decorated and titled in gilt, plaid-patterned endpapers. Some fading to cloth along spine and at board edges, shallow bumps at extremities. Publisher advertisement for a different book is tipped in at front free endpaper. Rear free endpaper has a 2 1/2" x 3/4" chip at fore edge. Some mild foxing to text. Binding remains solid. Fiction & Literature
