Thick 4to, blue cloth hardcover with tan buckram spine cloth, titles stamped in black, decorative endpapers, all edges blue. "Sixty thousand copies of this book were printed entirely from type and brass rules in the Specimen Printing Department of the American Type Founders Company." This great old standard contains just about every format of printing from its era, on a wide variety of papers. Plus there is a large section on borders, ornaments, and embellishments and what we would call "clip art" these days. And of course an illustrated catalog of all related equipment, from brass rules to printing presses, type cases, etc. CONDITION: cover cloth is dulled, some wear at corners, and there is a spattering of ink spots at front cover foot and lower spine edge. (Well, that just makes it authentic, right?) One small illustration has been neatly razored out, otherwise the interior is clean and tight in the binding, with former owner's label on front free endpaper.
