Three-quarter red leather with gorgeous marbled boards and endpapers, marbled edges, gilt titles stamped on spine. Probably the most sumptuous binding ever applied to a USDA bulletin! 24 pages interleaved with blank lined pages, presumably for notes. Also included is a two-page spread colored map of Life Zones of the United States. EX-LIBRARY but gently, small penciled call letters on title page X'ed out, small discreet withdrawal rubber stamp also on title page along with one-inch diameter California Academy of Science blindstamp. Paste down label on inside front cover indicates 'Presented by U.S. Biological Survey, July 1906' also has a petite withdrawal stamp. Corners and edges of leather somewhat heavily rubbed, several small chips to leather surface on spine, front hinge almost detached. A very charming presentation of an uncommon early Bulletin.
