A World of Men, The Private Sources of American Foreign Policy
Author: Etheredge, Lloyd S. Publisher: MIT Press Cambridge 1978
Very Good++ in Very Good+ dustjacket. 1st Edition Hardbound 8vo, 178 pp., Slight wear to dustjacket. Etheredge was an Assistant Professor of Political Science at MIT. In this book he presents two studies of the psychological sources of American foreign policy decisions. One is a State Department survey of 126 Foreign Service Officers and is a detailed examination of the foreign policy thinking of diplomats. The second study analyzes personality and policy disagreements among presidents, secretaries of state and selected advisors in 62 major American decisions (49 of them involving the use of force) fom 1898 to 1968. The latter seems quite topical in today's world. Indexed.
