Sample/chip card for paper-backed wood veneers manufactured by “Chas. W. Spurr”, seemingly for use by retailers to show potential customers their choices as well as the different uses for the veneers, no date - probably late 1800s - early 1900s, single-fold pamphlet - item is 5.75 in. x 9.5 in., (an 11.5 in. x 9.5 in. sheet folded in half), 16 sample chips of different woods included on front - each chip is 1 in. x 1.75 in., contains 3 small detailed b&w illustrations, slight darkening to paper from wood samples in a few places, very faint fold mark across middle - does NOT effect any of the chips, small and neat stamp from previous owner on front (”Removed to/35 Bedford St., Boston,/300 4th Ave., New York.”), otherwise clean and sharp, protected in a new plastic sleeve, item in very good- condition and all chips are extremely well-preserved {On the front are addresses for the Boston and New York “Warerooms” and on the inside is the following: “They can be washed, their rich colors improve with age, they strengthen the plastered wall, while steam, furnace heat, dampness or frost have no effect upon them. These facts must impress everyone with the economy and durability of this artistic mode of decoration.” } (VG-) 4218 [(s)0910KW]
