Don Blanding
American poet , writer, artist, designer, journalist and speaker. Donald Benson Blanding (1894 – 1957), often called the Poet Laureate of Hawaii, was a restless, multi-talented man who never stayed in one place more than two years. Despite that, he founded Hawaii's "Lei Day"; designed greeting cards, Hawaiian clothing, and eight dinnerware patterns for Vernon Kilns; illustrated books; did some acting, directing and producing of musicals; and became a popular radio, film and television personality, as well as a lecturer and newspaper columnist.
