Marlee Matlin
American film and TV actress, producer, and children's novelist who is almost completely deaf. For her performance in Children of a Lesser God, her film debut, she was awarded a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama and an Academy Award for Best Actress. She appeared in many television series and won two Emmy Awards. In 2002, she published her first novel for children, Deaf Child Crossing, and in 2006 co-authored a second, Nobody's Perfect.
