American lawyer, author, and daughter of President John Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Caroline Bouvier Kennedy was born in New York City in 1957 and lived from age three until just after her sixth birthday in the White House. After her father's assassination in November 1963, she moved with the remaining family back to New York City where she attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart school and the Brearley School. After graduating from the to Concord Academy in Massachusetts in 1975, she earned her undergraduate degree from Radcliffe College (now part of Harvard) in 1979. During her college summers, she interned with her uncle, Senator Ted Kennedy, and also with 'The New York Daily News. She began working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 1980 where met designer Edwin Arthur Schlossberg whom she married in 1986 after leaving the museum in 1985. In 1988 she graduated from Columbia Law School and gave birth to their first child. She published her first book, In Our Defense: The Bill of Rights in Action, in 1990, and then The Right to Privacy (1995. Both were co-authored with her friend and law-school classmate, Ellen Alderman. She also edited The Best-Loved Poems of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (2001), the anthology Profiles in Courage for Our Time (2002), A Patriot's Handbook: Songs, Poems, Stories and Speeches Celebrating the Land We Love (2003), and the the New York Times best selling A Family of Poems - My Favorite Poetry for Children (2005). From 2002-2004, Kennedy served as the chief executive for the Office of Strategic Partnerships for the New York City Department of Education where she helped raise more than $65 million in private support for the city’s public schools. She currently serves as the Vice Chair of The Fund for Public Schools, President of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, a member of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award Committee, an adviser to the Harvard Institute of Politics, a Director of the Commission on Presidential Debates, and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and Chairperson of the American Ballet Theater.
