Sample Autograph Signature: Richard Karlan

American actor and novelist. Richard Karlan (1919 2004) was born in Brooklyn, New York. He began his acting career on Broadway in the 1941 production of Brother Cain (which lasted for 19 performances). He then appeared in Johnny on a Spot, a 1942 production that had 4 performances. Perhaps convinced he could do better, he produced and starred in the 1942 Comes the Revolution which closed after two performances despite a cast with Wendell Corey and Will Geer. His last Broadway performance was in 1946 production of The Song of Bernadette, an apparent attempt to reap the popularity of the 1943 film which won four Academy Award and was nominated for eight others. It had three performances. Karlan sought and found success after moving to Hollywood. His first film role was with William Holden in Union Station in 1950, and through the 1950s he was cast in supporting roles in 24 more films and many, many more TV episodes. Through the 1960s and 1970s he worked exclusively in TV except for his last film role in 1967 with Julie Andrews in Star. He made single or multi appearances on such popular in TV shows as Space Patrol, The Missiles of October, The Untouchables, Get Smart, It Takes a Thief, Mission Impossible, Ben Casey, The Twilight Zone, and Kojak. His last television role was in 1984 in Simon and Simon. Overall, Karlan had over 90 credits as a supporting actor in films and television. Karlan wrote two novels: A Circle of Sand (1966) and Pageant Faded(1972).
