Brian Herne
Kenyan-born professional East African big game hunter and author. Before retiring to southern California, Herne had a professional hunting career spanning more than 30 years after being the youngest professional hunter ever licensed in East Africa. He is one of only seventeen individuals awarded the Shaw and Hunter Trophy, the "Oscar" of the African hunting world, and is an honorary Uganda National Park warden. Herne has also received awards for his photography, including Japan's prestigious Asahi Pentax Award. He has written for numerous outdoor and hunting magazines, and is also the founder of the international professional hunter's magazine Track. Herne is the author of Uganda Safari (1979), Tanzania Safaris (1981), Desert Safaris (1984), and
White Hunters: The Golden Age of African Safaris (1999)
