Francis F. Beirne
American journalist, historian, Baltimore Sun colunmist, and author. Francis F. Beirne (1890 - ?) made significant contributions to the regional history of Baltimore, Maryland. His first book, The War of 1812 published in 1949, is regarded as one of the most balanced general histories of the war. His popular Amiable Baltimoreans appeared in 1951, followed in 1957 by the equally popular Baltimore: A Picture History 1858-1958 which he edited and provided commentary. In 1959, he published Shout Treason: The Trial Of Aaron Burr, and St. Paul's Parish, Baltimore; A Chronicle of The Mother Church in 1967. He was also co-author of the 1980 Stormy Patriot: the Life of Samuel Chase.
