Sample Autograph Signature:
Jasper Fforde
Welsh novelist. Fforde was born in London and worked in the film industry for 17 years starting as a production office runner and ending as focus puller or first assistant cameraman (a member of a film crew responsible for keeping the camera focused properly during a shoot). He had already written novels and short stories before becoming a full time writer after leaving the film industry, but The Eyre Affair was his first published work and introduced his unforgettable detective protagonist, Thursday Next.
Published in 2001, The Eyre Affair was an instant success in the U.K. and the U.S., where it hit the New York Times Bestseller List. His subsequent five novels have been met with equal enthusiasm. Fforde's books are genreless, off-the-wall creations which mix wacky humor, parody, fantasy, and metafiction. He currently lives with his family in Wales.
