Sample Autograph Signature: Dan DeCarlo

American cartoonist, comic book, and pin-up artist. Daniel S. DeCarlo (1919 - 2001) was best known for developing the modern appearance of Archie Comics in the late 1950s and early 1960s, particularly the look of Betty and Veronica. He is generally recognized as the creator of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Josie and the Pussycats, and Cheryl Blossom. DeCarlo also contributed his unique style to Willie Lumpkin, Big Boy, Batman, and even The Simpsons. For 10 years before his work for Archie, he had done the art work for Millie the Model, and created cartoons for menís magazines including over 200 pin-ups for the Humorama between 1956 and 1963. He won the National Cartoonists Society Award for Best Comic Book in 2000 for Betty & Veronica Magazine, a comic showcasing Archie's girlfriends. DeCarlo was also nominated for the Shazam Award for Best Penciller in the Humor Division in 1974.
